Then Boaz said, “On the day you buy the land from Naomi and also from Ruth the Moabites, you must also acquire the widow of the deceased in order to raise up the name of the deceased on his inheritance.” The kinsman-redeemer replied, “I cannot redeem it myself, or I would jeopardize my own inheritance. Take my right of redemption, because I cannot redeem it.”Ruth 4:5-6

Love expressed through actions. Our devotional reading has been in the book of Ruth lately. I am impressed by the example Boaz sets of being willing to love and care for Ruth and Naomi. Another man had the opportunity but did not want to jeopardize his own inheritance.
In the last two weeks I have seen this love in action shown to me from a neighbor. As I have tried to get my boat motor running he has spent several days helping me, teaching me and eventually solving the issues and the boat is now running. He gave a lot of his time just to help me.
In a much larger scale, Jesus has given so much for us. He gave His whole life to make a way for us to be able to be adopted into God's family. Boaz reflected God's kind of love in serving and caring for Ruth and Naomi.  My friend also reflected Jesus' love in giving his time and skill to help me.  Pray for us that we would continue reflecting the love and generosity of Jesus in our circles.
In all the challenges in the world, the reality remains that reflecting the character of God in our circles of influence is the salt and light we are called to.
